The Problem

Sidestreet Burgers recently approached us to create a website for their burger chain in the North West. The business sought a stronger brand presence, online engagement, and more leads generated – our past experience proved we could achieve these goals. We immediately felt that this was a client we would want to work with – their brand was strong and had great potential, and we were excited by the creative opportunity to design a type of site we hadn’t done before.

The Solution

The work itself was mostly familiar territory – we were tasked with performing custom development of a website with fully custom design and written copy throughout.

The most unique aspect of this project was the highly aesthetic nature of the site. We enjoyed the creative challenge in placing visuals at the forefront and letting the product speak for itself. This led us to craft a very bold and striking visual identity that persists across every page. Bright yellows are starkly contrasted against a sleek black background. It’s eye-catching and evokes a sense of danger and excitement – the perfect atmosphere for a menu brimming with size and flavour.

To help us realise our vision, we partnered with We Eat Marketing for photos and videos. As a strong aesthetically-focused site, choosing a team to provide photography and videography was a big decision, but we’re confident we made the right choice. Their reputation and artistic eye preceded them, and we had known them for a number of years, so had absolute trust in the quality of their work.

Custom website design always brings technical problems to overcome. There are lots of moving parts, and identifying and solving any problems that arise is a natural part of the process. Whether there were formatting issues or site functions not working, we were committed to finding solutions, such as embedding additional code or new plugins.

When revisiting Sidestreet Burgers in the future, we would like to help develop their franchise offering. As we are tasked with marketing new Sidestreet franchises, we would create new location-based websites for each of the franchise sites, as well as develop the ordering system online for collections and delivery.

The Results

Ultimately, this project taught us a lot about creativity and boundary-pushing design that we will be taking with us moving forward. It cemented the importance of finding a style early on that fits the brand well. After that, designing the rest of the website is a more natural and efficient process, as a successful template exists to build from.

The results speak for themselves – you can view the website here:

The distinctive visual edge of this website presented an initial challenge to us, but we are very proud of how it turned out and are excited to develop it long-term, as well as take on similar website projects in the future.
